Ladies and Gentlemen…..START YOUR ENGINES!!
On Thursday, January 23rd @ 7PM, we will have our Pinewood Derby TRIAL NIGHT at Arndt Church. This is a chance for you to bring in your car, run it down the track a few times, check the weight on the scales, and ask the race committee any questions you have. ONLY NEW CARS ARE TO BE BROUGHT. This isn’t time to bring in all of your scout’s prior year cars. This is a chance for parents and scouts to see how their new car reacts on the track, giving them time to make adjustments before the actual race.
RACEDAY is Saturday, January 25th, at Hope Lutheran Church. Plan to arrive between 1PM and 1:15PM for registration and weigh-in. Racing will begin as soon as all cars are registered. Race structure – Each scout will race 3 times, once in each lane of the track. Each race is timed, and the scouts with the lowest average time from the 3 runs will be the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
Additionally, we will have judging on the following themes: Most Patriotic, Best Scouting Theme, Best Paint Job, Most Colorful, Largest Carbon Footprint, Most Likely Built by a Scout, Best TV/Movie/Cartoon/Video Game Theme, Best Sports Theme, Fastest Looking Car, Most Creative, Most Realistic, Best Craftsmanship, and Least Altered.
As this is also our January Pack Meeting, we are asking families to bring in Peanut Butter for our monthly Peanut Butter Collection for Arndt Church and the Interfaith Food Pantry.
Remember, Scouts must be in uniform to race. All registrations and payments must also be turned in prior to race day.
