Happy New Year pack 29 – we’d like to share our plans for the next few months.
With COVID continuing to be an issue for at least the next several months, Pack 29 will be avoiding indoor gatherings through the spring. With conditions changing every couple of weeks there is just too much uncertainty right now to plan large indoor gatherings.
This means we will be limited to virtual den meetings for the next 2-3 months.
Our January and February pack meetings also must be rescheduled.
January is normally our Pinewood Derby. Some scouts have already received their kits. We do intend to have a pinewood derby, at this time we are looking at a weekend in mid May, outdoors under the Arndt’s pavilion.
February is normally Blue and Gold banquet. The ceremonies normally held at blue and gold will now be a part of our June graduation. This will also be a time to recognize the AOLs. AOLs will still cross over to join a troop at the end of February, but they can come back to take part in Pinewood Derby and Blue and Gold.
Winter Cabin Camping (which was planned for early February) is cancelled. However, we will keep our eye out and if the conditions look just right, we may invite scouts for a day hike to check out the frozen lake minsi.
Our next in person pack meeting is likely to be April (outdoors) – potentially bringing back Pocono Wildlife Rescue for a live animal show.
We may try to arrange a virtual full-pack meeting. Stay tuned – and if any parents have seen good activities or themes for a large group meeting like this please feel free to send us suggestions!
