Any scout going to Akelaland can take an early swim test if they are interested.
Please arrive at Palmer Pool next Saturday July 2 at 10 AM. This just gives the scouts one less thing to do on check in day, it also gives them a chance to see what’s involved in the swim test so they can try it before camp and try again at camp if required.
BSA swim test must be re taken each year.
Cubs who can earn BSA swimmer will be allowed in all parts of the pool and will be allowed to take a canoe out on the lake. Cubs who can not earn swimmer but who earn beginner can still swim in the pool shallow area (3-4 feet deep) and can go on a boat with an adult. Scouts who do not attempt the test at all or who can not swim at all will be “non-swimmers”, there is a very shallow area of the pool they can use.
This test has been organized for both Troop and Pack 29. Note that at Akelaland it is fairly easy to get your test in on day of arrival, so if you can’t make it July 2 don’t worry, we can settle it day of camp.
