Cubmaster’s Notes

Now that the metaphorical (and literal) dust has settled on the Pinewood Derby, the pack now begins to look ahead to Spring and Summer! Mother Nature has been teasing us with a few days of warm weather, so I’m already getting excited to start holding our pack and den meetings outside again. 

This month is a little quieter than the last two months, and while we all love the big events like the Pinewood Derby, it’s refreshing to balance those out with more routine meetings.  We’re leaning into a steady rhythm this month with two den meetings focused on adventure requirements, followed by a full Pack meeting where we’ll tackle an adventure together. 

March Recognitions

This month, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for all of the adults who volunteered to help with our Pinewood Derby events. We started the month off with a shortage of volunteers for the event, but many people stepped up to make it another successful year! Whether it was providing and operating tools on Build Day, setting up and tearing down the track, or staging the cars, this event relies on the help of our families to run smoothly, and you all rose to the challenge.

I also want to recognize Emmet O’Hanlon as our newest Committee member. Emmet also serves as our Scouting for Food Chair.

March Den Activities

March was dedicated to the Pinewood Derby, so all of the scouts focused their energies on building some fast hod rods. While we didn’t have individual den meetings this month, each scout who participated in the Derby earned their Race Time adventures!

April Pack Updates

Summer Camp 2026

Thank you to everyone who’s signed up for Summer Camp so far! To date, we have 12 scouts and seven adults, across all dens, registered this year. In the coming days and weeks, we’ll be sending out information about final payments and pre-trip requirements for all attendees. Final payments are due at the 5/3 den meetings. We’ll be sending out info about scout account balances and remaining payments

There is still time to sign up, so if you or your scout are interested in going, please reach out to Jen Schleig and Stephen Schleig! 

Fundraising

McDonald’s Dine & Donate Fundraiser

This year’s McDonald’s Dine & Donate event will take place on May 18, from 4:00-7:00 PM. We’ll send out an email with a Sign-Up Genius link and more details in the coming weeks!

Meat Sticks

Our next collection date for meat stick orders will be at the April Pack Meeting on 4/26.  Please reach out to Jen Schleig (sjmznschleig@gmail.com) if you have any questions!

Help Wanted!

As we approach the back end of our Scouting year, our current leaders are already looking ahead to volunteer needs for next year. We’ll need to fill a few key positions beginning in September, including:

• Cubmaster, beginning January 2027
• Lions & Tigers Den Leader, beginning August 2026
• Wolf Den Leader, beginning August 2026
• Committee Member, beginning April 2026

I’ll be sending an email to all families with details about each position and additional information to those adults who have already expressed interest in volunteering. If you’re interested in helping in any capacity, please reach out to Mike Ehret (pack29easton@gmail.com)!
