VOLUNTEERING FOR PACK 29 EASTON
The strength of any Scouting America unit is built upon the dedication of it’s adult volunteers. You’ve likely have heard the saying “It takes a village to raise a child” and that’s especially true of the success of our scouting program. Having an engaged group of parents/guardians/adults in our Scouts lives brings a diversity of skills and resources to the Pack.
If you’ve been thinking about jumping in to help, it’s always the right time to do so. Pack 29 relies on the good-will of our Scouting family volunteers to help host events that make our program second-to-none.
There are many ways to help, and we always appreciate that “many hands make light work“. If you’d like to help plan/setup/tear down any of our events, or have an idea for a new event, please reach out.
If you want to take your commitment a step further, Pack 29 encourages you to register with Scouting America. Please reach out to us using the Contact Form to the right for more information & support in the Scouting America registration process.
At any point in the year, we always need registered volunteers in the following positions:
- Committee members (help plan/steer the program)
- Den Leaders (lead our age-separated dens)
- Fundraising/Popcorn Kernel (lead or help with our annual fundraising efforts)
- Advancement Coordinator (track our Scouts achievements, purchase, organize and distribute awards)
- Scouting for Food Coordinator (plan & coordinate door-hanger outings & coordinate food pick-up day)
- And More!
Additionally, if you have a skill-set or experience that you’d like to share with the Pack – let us know and we’ll find an opportunity to share that passion with our Pack community.
CURRENTLY OPEN POSITIONS > Winter 2025 – 2026
Pinewood Derby Crew Chief
Pack 29 is looking for volunteers to help with our Pinewood Derby! Our current Pinewood Derby Crew Chief, Tom Quackenbush, is moving on to the troop in February, so we’re looking for someone to fill that position. The primary duties for this position include:
- Coordinate Pinewood Derby build day, trial night, and race day events.
- Send communications via email, blog, social media about events
- Organize setup/tear down of track
- Run the timing/scoring software on race day
This position requires 12-15 hours of your time during late February and March, and you will have assistance from a small team of Pinewood Derby Pit Crew members. Our current Crew Chief, Tom, will also be available to answer questions and help train you!
Pinewood Derby Pit Crew
In addition to the Crew Chief, we have openings for 1-2 Pit Crew members. This position is responsible for helping with setup and teardown of the track, and serving as the helping hands for our Build Day, Test Night, and on Derby Day. This position requires 6-8 hours of your time during the month of March.
Please contact Mike Ehret at pack29easton(at)gmail(dot)com if you have any questions or are interested in getting involved.
