All About Popcorn Sales

It is that time of year again, our annual popcorn sale is in full swing.

There are some changes this year, everything you need to know about popcorn will be documented here. Read on for how to use the new app, register for show and sells, and info on our incentives.

Getting started

Get started with the following steps:

  1. Register online by downloading the Trails End app (iphone or Android) or going to http://www.trails-end.com.  **Our District is Fork of the Delaware 1, Pack is “2029”
  2. Setup a profile and share it for internet sales. Shipping is free this year!
  3. Use the app or website to sign up for Storefront sales, these are a great way to earn sales (please no more than 2 shifts per scout for now to let everyone have a chance)
  4. Sell to friends and neighbors – you can accept credit cards with the app! You can manually enter card info OR use a Square reader. You can purchase a square reader or get a free one by registering for an account at Square.com
  5. Get a paper sales form –  If you have not already received a popcorn order form they are available online here: http://www.minsitrails.org/document/2019-popcorn-order-form/193578 – you can still track your wagon sales paper and pencil if you prefer. Or contact a leader to get a form.
  6. Have fun and earn incentives and prizes, and help your pack!

Why we sell popcorn

Popcorn is our pack’s only annual fundraiser. Strong sales over the years have kept our pack strong financially and this allows our program to continue. Events like our fall and spring campouts, pushmobile, our live animal show from Pocono Rescue, and our bus trip to Franklin Institute were funded due to very strong sales last year.

Incentives from the Pack

Popcorn sales return 37% to the pack (and another ~30% to council and national scouting) which we use to fund our programs.

Our pack believes the scouts and their families should receive some of the proceeds directly due to their sales.

Any scout selling $100 in popcorn will receive discounted registration for 2020 ($70 vs $107). That $37 discount represents all of the popcorn proceeds on that first $100 in sales.

Any scout selling $300 or more in popcorn will receive 10% of their total sales back to their “scout account”. This is money available for that scout to use for any future scouting activity (such as Winter cabin camping, summer camp, etc).

And as always – the top seller as of our Sept pack meeting will get to put a pie-in-the-face of a leader (or parent) of their choice!

The top 3 sellers at the conclusion of our sale (in October pack meeting) will get to pie a leader (or parent) of their choosing

More incentives

New this year – scouts will earn Amazon gift cards to choose any prize of their choice at different sales levels. For example, $500 in sales earns a $20 amazon gift card. More info is on the sales form and in the app.

Minsi Trails council hosts a skyzone bounce party for the top 50 sellers in council (minimum $1500 in sales). We had one scout attend last year!

Scouts can activate a Trails End scholarship by selling $2500 in any one year. Once enrolled, 6% of all sales go into the scholarship fund. https://www.trails-end.com/scholarship

At $25,000, the scout earns a trip to Disney for the whole family (seriously). Good luck with that!

Using the Trails End app and Website to manage your sales

New this year is a Trails End app for your iPhone or Android. Register your scout (or re-login with the same user name you created in the past for online sales).

Once you setup, the same login gives you access to the app and to Trails-end website www.trails-end.com

You can now use the app or website to record all “Wagon sales”. You can accept credit card payments via manual entry or with a Square reader. Square and Trails-end have an agreement to waive credit card fees, so the reader must be from Square. You can get a free reader signing up for a new account or you can purchase various types.

You will also use the app or website to register for Storefront sales. Just show up with a smiling face and scout uniform! While at storefront, we will enter all sales using the app so please bring a charged phone.

Also share your online profile, and anyone across the country can support your scout with an online sale. Shipping is free this year.

If you have registered your scout and linked them to our pack, all online, wagon, and storefront sales will automatically be calculated for your scout.

Sale closeout

Our october pack meeting will be final deadline for all sales and to turn in any forms and money for popcorn.
