Cubmaster’s Notes
Do Your Best
As we step into 2026, I’ve been thinking about how different people approach the calendar reset. Some see January 1st as a chance to start something entirely new. Others see it as a perfect opportunity to refine and improve what they are already doing, sharpening their skills and focusing their efforts.
Whether you and your family are committing to making a change in the new year, focusing on staying the course, or working hard to overcome unseen or unspoken challenges, there is one guiding principle that we rely on in Cub Scouts: Do Your Best.
The “Do Your Best” motto isn’t about being perfect; it’s about the intent and effort we put into the task at hand. Our scouts are always taking in the behaviors of the adults around them, so when they see us try something new this year, overcome adversity at home, or even admit to a mistake with a commitment to try again, they learn that “Do Your Best” is more than a motto that we repeat at our meetings. It’s the standard by which we should live.
December Recognitions
- All of our families for making the Holiday Pack meeting a success!
- Jen Schleig for going through the process to ensure we maintain our charter with Scouting America.
December Den Activities
The pack went on a little break over the holidays, so we didn’t have any scheduled den meetings.
January Pack Updates
Fundraising
Meat Sticks
In 2025, we started to promote meat sticks as a year-round fundraiser so that families always have the opportunity to build their scouts’ funds. In an effort to streamline the process, beginning in January, we’ll be collecting order forms and payments once-per-month, and that will take place at the last pack event of each month. For example, in January, our last pack-related event is a den meeting on 1/25, so at that meeting, Jen will bring the meat sticks to the meeting, collect order forms and payments, and then immediately fulfill that order.
We’ve added reminders to the Pack 29 Google Calendar, and they’ll be included in the newsletter. We’ll send out an email with a PDF copy of the order form, but please reach out to Jen Schleig (sjmznschleig@gmail.com) Mike Ehret (pack29easton@gmail.com) if you have any questions!
2026 Pack Dues
As a reminder, if you have not submitted payment for your 2026 pack dues, please make sure you do that as soon as possible. Dues for 2026 are $50, and that can be paid via check to Pack 29. Please contact our Committee chair, Jen Schleig, to coordinate payment or if you have any questions.
Winter Cabin Camping
If you signed up for Winter Cabin Camping this year, you’ll be receiving an email from Stephen Schleig this week with details about the weekend, including a packing list and our menu for the weekend.
Please reach out to Stephen Schelig (schleig84@gmail.com) or Mike Ehret (pack29easton@gmail.com) if you haven’t received an email by January 3, or if you have any questions about camping!
